Summary:

It starts off with James, Mr. Andrews, being deployed in Afghanistan for 2 years.

With hope of him coming home, the family never stops believing that one day they'll wake up and he'll be standing there on their doorstep, arms wide open. But one day when a letter arrives at their home, the world gets flipped up-side-down.

Colton Andrews, James's son, feels great responsibility for his family after their family tragedy. Still just a teenager, he thinks he needs to not only be the guy he wants to be, but be the man his father was and what he thinks his father wanted him to be. Taking responsibility for his 3 sisters, 1 older, 2 younger, and helping his mother out while acting as a parental figure, he tries to become just that guy.

Will their world ever be somewhat turned right-side-up again?

Story Notes:

The Andrews family has been through some hard times in their life.

It starts off with James, Mr. Andrews, being deployed in Afghanistan for 2 years.

One day when a letter arrives at their home, the world gets flipped up-side-down.

This broken family tries to deal with everything, picking up the pieces still after 2 years.
Secrets will be revealed, and shocking news to one another will also occure.

You don't have to read this note but it'd be pretty cool if you did :)

I, personally, feel a some what personal connection with this story.

My father was deployed in Afghanistan for 2 years, which was his last and longest tour with the military after over 22 years of service. He'd been deployed many times before to places, and gone other times before for things.

I know how it feels to have someone you love over seas, when there's the chance that you may never see him or her again.

Fortunately, my father returned safely home to us 2 years ago, where he retired from the military, after, like I said, 22 years in service.

If you are a military family, you probably know what I mean and what the Andrews family is "feeling".
Even if you aren't, you'll still probably be able to feel the emotion in this story.

It may not be from this first chapter, but hey, who knows, maybe you will...

 

People can tell you they know how you feel as many times as they want to, and you can say thanks as many times as they say it. But, in the end, no one really understands how you feel as a person on the even that's taking place in your life.

I myself know what that's like.

 

In a way, I hope this story is a tear-jerker for most of you.
I know that may sound bad, but I really hope that it is.

Just thinking about my plot last night made me tear up, which says a lot since the only things I really cry at are some movies, and the 7th Harry Potter book (along with my great aunt who passed away a year ago this Friday).

I just thought I'd give you some info on this, and if you read it, thanks!
