Set in the dusk of the Great Depression, an orphaned Joseph Jonas is whisked away into a world of dust, blood, and tears. The great depression has him searching for work, food, money, and his missing brothers, only to be treated nothing more than an ally dog. It seems his only bet for work is the bustling Tijuana racetrack, the heat of California and Mexico in the 1930's. Lies and deceit gets him up in the saddle controlling 1,450 pounds of bone and sinew, an animal capable of sustaining speeds of up to 40mph. But he faces far bigger lies and threats as he's raced into this world, completely apart from the idiotic world he knew before--the world of horse racing.

Well, I'm not sure how you guys will take this--but I've been wanting to release this story for a long time. I've been writing it longer than any of my books. I wanted to write a book solely about the horrors of being a jockey in the 1930's. Not many people realize what happened behind the stands. Jockeys starved themselves just to stay to their weight or they might be beaten by their managers. It was a terrible and filthy life. Jockeys were treated no more than a mutt in the streets. I also tried to write this to the language of that time. Hopefully it doesn't get too excessive:)
